Brent HS Diploma

  • The student participates in all academic offerings in the credit level (non-IB)
  • Student takes all eight academic subjects (six subjects plus Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay)
  • Student is required to fulfill Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) requirements
  • Students (non-IB, IB) are in one class and assessments are modified.
  • Student is graded by Brent School assessment criteria and teachers
  • Student gets the high school Brent Diploma

Brent HS Diploma and IB Course certificates

  • The student participates in all academic offerings; however, based on need/interest, student chooses some IB subjects (HL or SL) that will require the student to submit assessments to the International Baccalaureate
  • Student takes all eight academic subjects (six core subjects plus Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay) but some are IB assessed and some are Brent assessed
  • Student is required to fulfill Creativity, Activity and Service requirements (IB level or not)
  • Students are in one class but some assessments are modified or for IB.
  • Some assessments are graded by Brent School assessment criteria and teachers and some by IB examiners
  • Student receives a Brent grade for IB subjects (HS grade)
  • Student gets the high school Brent Diploma and IB course certificates from the IB.

Brent HS Diploma and the IB Diploma

  • All courses are taken in the IB level with some grade prerequisites and must meet the following:
  • Core Elements
    • Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
    • Extended Essay (EE)
    • Creativity, Action, Service (CAS)
  • Three Higher Level (HL) subjects- 240 classroom hours
  • Three Standard Level (SL) subjects- 150 classroom hours
  • Student receives a total diploma points score = cut off is 24 points
  • Student receives IB certificates with individual IB- the range is from 1-7, refer to details in the Student-Parent Handbook
  • Student receives a Brent grade for IB subjects
  • Student gets high school Brent Diploma and possibly the IB Diploma (upon meeting conditions for passing)

*Credit= Non-IB subject = high school subject = Brent High School Diploma

**Standard level (SL)= IB subject 150 hours of study. Students get a Brent grade and an IB score.

***Higher level (HL)= IB subject 240 hours of study, longer assessments. Students get a Brent grade and an IB score.
