Brent International School Baguio is a college-preparatory school. Our primary and essential goal is to prepare students to enter a college or university of their choice anywhere in the world. Programs for non-college oriented students are not offered.

ABC’S OF THE SCHOOL YEAR

The school year generally begins in August and ends on the last week of May. It is divided into two semesters with the first semester finishing before the three-week Christmas break. The school also takes a one-week break prior to Easter.

The calendar is published well in advance of the upcoming school year, and students are expected to make every effort to be in the country and attend classes from the first to the last day of our scheduled school year.

EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR

If, due to political, natural or other causes, a significant number of school days are missed, the Board of Trustees may extend the school year.

SCHOOL DAYS

Monday - Friday

The Homeroom period/Chapel service/Assembly begins promptly at 7:45 a.m. except on Thursdays when classes begin at 8:30 a.m. Classes end at 2:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday, with the exception of Pre-Kinder whose day ends at 11:30am every day.

Parents are requested not to have their children at school more than fifteen minutes prior to the beginning of the school day nor more than 30 minutes after the end of classes; unless the student is involved in a sports or a school-organized activity.

Grounds supervision is provided only within the stated 15-minute and 30-minute period. Generally, the campus is closed to all day students at 5:00 p.m. unless a school organized activity is in place beyond this time.

The school timetable works on a Day 1/Day 2 schedule so that students generally have their subject classes on alternate days. There are 4 academic blocks each day, normally 75 minutes each, except on Wednesdays when the duration is 80 minutes. School ends at 2:30 pm with remedial time for students to meet with teachers or to have student meetings before scheduled sporting activities. Sports practices, interest, and club options are from 3:15pm to 5:00pm on some designated days. Various sports are scheduled throughout the year and students have to practice a number of sports at a particular stage in the year. Students are encouraged to participate in after-school sports, club options, and activities. Parents will be informed whenever a student’s presence is needed after school hours for rehearsals or other academic – related activities.

Some activities are built into the school day, such as Lower School Assembly (Tuesdays) and Chapel (Monday for the Lower School; Tuesday for Middle and Upper School), and Enrichment Time on Fridays.
