FROM THE DEPUTY HEAD

On April 21, 2012, when Brent Baguio opened its gates for this year’s annual Medical-Surgical-Dental-Optical Outreach Day, the volunteers were astounded by an overwhelmingly unprecedented number of would-be patients - the biggest community operation that Brent Baguio ever hosted! As early as 6:30am (1.5 hours before the opening of the service areas), at least 75 persons were lined up along Brent Rd leading towards the school gate. In a matter of an hour, at least 400 individuals (in 2 lines) occupied the right side of Brent Rd. By the time the service areas opened, the numbers swelled and patients eventually in 3 lines, waited in an orderly manner for their turn at registration and or screening. Also as a first, the surgery services had to extend until the next day, Sunday, (for half day) because 80 more patients needed attending to; thankfully, the doctor and nurse volunteers continued to provide the much needed surgical/treatment services.

At the end of the day, the records showed that the 2012 Medical-Dental-Surgical-Optical Outreach Day registered 1,381 patients with various services received; the total of various services rendered reached 1,743; moreover, the patients came from 99 different barangays within the city and from 11 barangays outside the city.

The student volunteers performed an admirable job in all the areas assigned them; most impressive to the doctor and nurse volunteers were the student sterilizers who were on their feet the whole day handling their tasks impeccably and efficiently!

This year’s community service day or days definitely continued to be a real learning, experiential, and character-building activity.

THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!

To EVERYONE FOR ONE’S EFFORT, TIME, FINANCES, SPIRIT OF VOLUNTEERISM, AND SIMPLY FOR CARING!!

YOU ALL HAVE TOUCHED LIVES AND INDEED HAVE MADE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE!! GOD’S BLESSINGS ON YOU ALL!!!

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
May 2, 2012

It is that time of the year and final exams for the school year are upon us.

Seniors’ final examinations (please click here for the schedule), the IB exams, will run from May 2 - 21, and will be held in the Centennial Reflection Center. Credit level exams in subjects will take place from May 2-4 in the Conference Room. There will be plenty of gaps between exams in May for the students.  While the seniors are not expected to attend school every day if they have no exam, they are encouraged to make appointments to see their teachers for last-minute help. The normal school uniform code will be in effect during the exams. Students who do not comply will be subject to disciplinary action.

Students who would like to have their IB results sent directly to universities that they have applied to in North America should contact the Registrar, Mrs. Lulu Balanza, as soon as possible, as the deadline for this request is the end of May. Students will be given a P.I.N. so they can access their own IB results online on or after July 5.

Semester Exams are coming up for Middle and Upper School students (please click here for the schedule).

Upper School students have three days of exams, Friday the 25th, Monday the 28th and Tuesday the 29th of May (please click here for the schedule) with these schooldays ending at 1 pm.  Middle School students will have exams on the 28th and 29th with a regular schedule of classes on the 25th; each school day will finish at 1 pm. Parents/Guardians of exam students are asked to have their children at either Ogilby Hall (for Middle School) or Griffiths Hall (for Upper School) in plenty of time to allow for a 7:45 am start to the testing day.

Students will be dismissed from their exam rooms at 1 pm and must be picked up then.

Lower School will have normal class schedules on the 25th, 28th and 29th (with the usual finish time at 2:30pm).

Please note: Griffiths Hall will not be available for the families of students to have lunch May 25, 28-29. All who normally have lunch at Griffiths are asked to please go to either the picnic tables in Neutral, Lower School area or the cafeteria area.

Report cards for the second semester will be available for pick up on Moving Up Day, Friday June 1.

Best wishes to all of our students for a successful finish to the school year!
